Welcome to Our Frequently Asked Questions Page. Here you will find all the answers related to our Cash4Clothes collection.

I’m new to this. How does it all work?

Explanation in FAQ how cash4clothes service works and what you should expect from usWe operate using a simple “weigh and pay” cash4clothes process. Simply click on the find us page for directions to our shop and opening hours. During our normal operating hours, simply bring in bags of gently used clothing to the collection point. One of our staff will quickly check the pieces for condition, style and general salability.

Please make sure everything is dry, clean and in wearable condition to have the most pieces accepted. Once the clothes have been sorted, we will weigh everything on our scales and pay you cash on the spot based on the total weight of the items you’ve brought in.

What are your hours of operation?

We’re open Monday through Friday, from 11:00 to 17:00

Saturday from 11:00 to 13:00

We are closed on Sunday and Bank Holidays.

Do you check the items before accepting them?

Yes. We do check items brought to us to ensure that they are of a good enough quality to sell on. Items need to be free of holes, stains and other defects that would make others not want to purchase them. Additionally, they should be current in style. We reserve the right to refuse any items that we deem are unsuitable. Please do not take offense if your items are rejected – it simply means we don’t have the proper outlet for them at this time.

Do all the items have to be clean before bringing them in?

Yes. All clothing must be washed or cleaned prior to being sorted. You don’t need to iron clothing, but fold it neatly before bagging to make the sorting process easier and faster.

What type of clothing do you accept?

We buy all types of used clothing as long as it is in good, wearable condition. We also accept toys, handbags, coats, suits and baby clothing. We do not accept torn or stained clothing, uniforms, undergarments, single shoes, pillows, bedding, electronics, carpets, curtains or towels. For the complete list of items we buy and important details, please visit the what we buy page.

Do you take carpets, rugs, duvets, pillows or mattresses?

No, sorry. We do not take these items at this time.

Do I have to separate clothes and shoes?

No. Clothing and shoe items do not need to be separated. Please make sure that all shoes have a match prior to bringing them in.

How long have you been in business?

We have been in business for over 4 years. During that time, we have helped countless numbers of schools, churches, individuals and businesses by offering an alternative to binning unwanted clothing. Sellers get the benefit of a cash payment for their clothing while buyers enjoy a much higher quality of clothing than would typically be found in donation-based resale stores.

How do you weigh the clothes?

We weigh the clothes using an extremely accurate, professional digital scale. We do not use any type of mechanic pull type, spring or balance scale.

Is there a minimum or maximum amount of clothing I can bring at one time?

No. As long as the items are clean, dry and in salable condition, you can bring as little or as much clothing as you would like. The more items you bring in, the more money you can make.

Can you pick my items up from my location?

Yes, we can. If you are selling more than 200 kg of clothing total, please get in touch with us via our Contact Us form. We will work with you to arrange a collection time and date that fits your schedule.

I work at a school, charity, sport club and want to arrange a collection? What shall I do?

If you are selling/collecting/donating more than 200 kg of clothing, we can pick items up from your location. Please contact us via Get in touch page to arrange a pickup service or discuss the details of your collection.

We would like to run a charity collection for our school/nursery/club. Would you be able to collect large quantities of clothing donated by our members?

Yes, absolutely! Simple arrange for all your members to bring their unwanted clothes to the youth club/charity/school then get in touch with us so we can weigh the bags and give your school or organization the money! It is a quick and easy fundraiser that everyone can be involved in. The only thing we ask is to make sure the clothing is dry, clean and in wearable condition prior to the scheduled pick up. Please contact us for more information.

What benefits do I get by selling my clothes to you?

By selling your used clothing to us, you are helping to reduce the amount of unwanted clothing filling up the UK’s landfill sites. You are also making money by selling your unwanted or outgrown clothing while helping someone else save money by purchasing them at a significant discount off retail. Clothing won’t be wasted and neighborhoods will benefit from pooling available resources.
